Pantanal Monkeys

The Black howler (Alouatta caraya) is the larger primate in Pantanal. Male and female can be easily distinguished, as males have black hair and females have the yellow-brown coloration. They live in family groups usually between 5 to 8 members and spend most of the time on top of large trees, coming down just to drink water. Females give birth to one cub at a time and carry her baby in the back during the first months of life. This mammals can be watched all year round at Barra Mansa Lodge.
